We are so thankful for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) in Ottawa for dedicating themselves to support Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) by challenging members to participate in QCH Foundation’s Hike for Healthcare. Collectively, this incredible team led the way in the campaign, raising over $5,450.
AMYA typically holds charitable events throughout the year across Canada and in Ottawa to support their community. This team had initially planned on holding their very own first ‘Run for Ottawa’ event this year – a charitable race with proceeds going to local healthcare centered charities in Ottawa. However, as the pandemic unfolded, they knew it would be impossible to hold this event.
As soon as AMYA heard about Hike for Healthcare, they were thrilled to join the challenge. They were determined to support QCH and especially our frontlines heroes.
“We are all amateur hikers, runners, and cyclists who just enjoy spending time outdoors. Having this challenge is really exciting as it is motivating us to get outdoors while helping to serve the local community in Ottawa.” – Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association team
AMYA worked hard to raise funds for our hospital, and their effort showed. This philanthropic team highly values the importance of giving back to their community, not only because of their values, but also their faith.
“Our faith, Islam, teaches us that there are only two key aspects of faith: (1) Service to God and (2) Service to humanity. Giving back to the community, and especially supporting the frontline healthcare heroes who are putting their own lives at risk to serve others, is ingrained in our identity. Beyond the pandemic response, we know the hospital is an integral pillar of the Ottawa community.” – Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association team
Thank you AMYA for your unwavering support. Your generosity, grit and dedication to help raise funds for QCH will create an amazing impact on our hospital and our healthcare team.
Hike for Healthcare is a virtual fundraiser in support of urgent healthcare needs at QCH. Participants were challenged to hike, walk or run 10km this fall, to raise funds for urgently needed equipment at QCH. You can still donate to this campaign and help us reach our $50,000 goal.
