Construction is well underway on phase two of the mental health project at Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH). More than more than 16,500 square feet of real estate, located on the main level of QCH, is being transformed into a space that will offer outpatient services for our community.
The majority of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing set-up is complete and all of the stud walls are built, with drywall being installed this month. Similarly to the Inpatient Unit that opened in December 2022, the new space on the main level of the hospital will be bright and airy – and house physicians offices, medication room, social work offices, peer support rooms and an ADL (activities of daily living) kitchen where patients can participate in food preparation as part of their care plan.
The Barbara Crook and Dan Greenberg Mental Health Centre is a reality thanks to the incredible generosity of our community of donors who collectively gave more than $6 million towards the project. QCH received an additional $9 million from the Ministry of Health. Please two of the projects is expected to be complete later this year.
