How appropriate that this year’s Lumière Charity Gala has left us absolutely glowing with gratitude here at the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation.
More than 400 attendees came together on September 7 at the Brookstreet Hotel for a sensational night of food, drinks, live music, games, prizes and, to cap it all off, a fireworks show. It was wonderful to see so many guests embrace this year’s Roaring ‘20s theme, which coincided with the hotel’s milestone anniversary.
The evening was presented by Brookstreet Hotel and Wesley Clover Foundation, with RBC Royal Bank as presenting sponsor. We’re thrilled to share that the gala raised more than $120,000 in support of QCH, described by Brookstreet’s general manager Nyle Kelly as “a pillar of the community.”
The number of people QCH serves each year is 500,000 — and growing. “The Queensway Carleton Hospital is not the biggest hospital by far but we punch well above our weight,” QCH Foundation president and CEO Shannon Gorman said at the gala.
Sir Terry Matthews, who owns Brookstreet Hotel and is founder and chairman of investment management and holding company Wesley Clover International, hosted a pre-gala reception with the top sponsors, which included RBC, Brazeau Seller Law, Accora Village and Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG). He also donated a golf trip for four to his five-star Celtic Manor Resort in Wales to the live auction, led by Ryan E. Watson from Raising the Bid.
Gala attendees included QCH president and CEO Dr. Andrew Falconer, hospital board chair Atul Aggarwal, and foundation board members Janet Yale, Chad Schella and past board chair Ronald Richardson. Ottawa Mayor Mark Mark Sutcliffe was also there to show his support with Kanata North Coun. Cathy Curry.
QCH Foundation is truly grateful to everyone who bought tickets, sponsored and participated in this year’s Lumière Charity Gala. Your support really helped to make it a roaring success.
