Ottawa, May 2022 – Queensway Carleton Hospital’s Childbirth unit is a special place with incredible staff who help welcome almost 2,500 babies into the world each year, including all four of my grandchildren.

As a community we are incredibly fortunate to have access to world-class care at QCH. For our tiniest patients, we have state-of-the-art medical devices to provide support when they need it.

Sometimes, babies who are born prematurely or with health concerns, are in need of some extra special care through the help of an infant incubator. This device serves as a safe, comfortable and controlled space for babies to live while their vital organs are growing and developing.

This year, four new incubators are needed to replace outdated technology. Thanks to our amazing community, we’ve raised enough funds to purchase three and with YOUR help we will raise the $35,000 to purchase the fourth incubator.

Replacing medical equipment that is out-of-date, or at the end of its useful life, and purchasing the latest and best medical technology is essential for providing the highest standard of healthcare to our rapidly growing community, including our littlest patients.

This Mother’s Day, we are asking YOU, our incredible community of donors, to make a donation towards the purchase of this vital piece of equipment and send an e-card to a special mom you would like to honour. This equipment helps to care for the hospital’s most fragile patients, all while giving mom peace of mind knowing her bundle of joy is safe and protected.

As my four beautiful grandchildren were born here at QCH, having the most modern and state-of-the-art equipment in our Special Care Nursery for our patients is close to my heart.

Thanks to your generosity, moms and babies at QCH will receive the world-class care they deserve when they need it most, right here at QCH.

With gratitude,

Shannon Gorman, President & CEO, QCH Foundation
