Season’s Greetings from QCH Foundation

As many of us start to prepare for this month’s celebrations, and the holidays, I am reminded of what a special time of year this is, and how amazing our community is.

Although this year it will look a bit different than holiday’s past as we limit our contact with those outside of our households, I am encouraged to see that this is not curbing our spirits.

Everywhere I go I see amazing holiday decorations, with houses and front lawns lit up from top to bottom, helping to brighten the evening drive home or neighbourhood walks.

Here at our hospital, our healthcare team has been so busy caring for patients but are still making time to embrace the spirit of the season. For the whole month of December there are daily COVID-19 safe celebrations scheduled around the hospital for the team and patients alike to enjoy. From special Kwanzaa, Chanukah, and Christmas menus in our QCH cafeteria, to candy cane shoots, ugly sweater contests, virtual trivia nights and holiday zoom parties.  It is great to see this dedicated bunch having some well-deserved fun, celebrating, and bringing smiles to so many faces.

What truly has touched me the most this season is our community’s incredible giving spirit.  Regardless of COVID-19 restrictions, financial hardships, and the other unknown struggles our community may be experiencing, I’m seeing so much generosity and giving from our wonderful donors and throughout the wider community.

Thankfully, this pandemic has brought our community even closer together, and has made us all even more determined to help one another. Giving back to our community and supporting those in need has never felt so important. And you, our donors, and our entire west Ottawa community is stepping up in a way that should make us all proud.

On behalf of everyone at QCH Foundation and our hospital, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Wishing you and yours a safe, healthy and relaxing December.

With sincere gratitude,

Shannon Gorman, President & CEO, Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation
