On July 30 the QCH Foundation team was thrilled to attend and support a very special day at QCH – a day to thank and appreciate our awesome Queensway Carleton Hospital healthcare team, and treat them to a physically distanced BBQ in support of staff wellness.
It was wonderful to see so many of our hospital colleagues take a well earned break, and receive some recognition and thanks for their outstanding work.
This special event, organized and hosted by the QCH Food Services and Wellness Works team, was sponsored by the QCH Staff Association and a generous group of donors from the Ottawa home builders community, including eQ Homes, Novatech, Trinity and Urbandale.
Earlier this year, in response to increased healthcare needs during the pandemic, Josh Kardish, Vice-President of eQ Homes, launched the Home Builders 4 HealthCare Workers fundraiser that raised over $15,000 for our QCH frontline workers.
“I was motivated to help raise funds for Home Builders 4 HealthCare Workers by my good friend Dr. Neil Bellack, an inspiring Emergency Room Doctor and father of three young boys, who works at the QCH.” – Josh Kardish, Vice President, eQ Homes
In addition to the staff BBQ, a portion of these funds were put towards alternate accommodations for our QCH frontline workers, doctors and nurses, to ensure they could keep themselves and their families safe while working around the clock to save lives and keep our community healthy during COVID-19.
We are incredibly grateful to our Ottawa homebuilding industry for stepping up to support our hospital team in this special way. Thank you!
