With Thanksgiving around the corner, this is a time of year when we take a pause to give thanks and reflect on what we are truly grateful for in our lives.
This year I am grateful for so many things – my health and safety, my dear family and friends, and especially the amazing community I am so fortunate to call home.
I have said this many times, since joining QCH and the Foundation team I have been truly inspired by you, our wonderful and giving community of donors. Your continued support and kindness for our hospital, our Foundation, our patients and healthcare team touches me each and every day.
This year has been unprecedented and no doubt our Thanksgiving tables will feel a bit emptier this year. For many of us, we will be missing family and friends near and far, who we can’t safely be with. Many of us will also be missing loved ones who we have sadly lost, who are no longer with us. It’s our memories, and support from our community that will help get us through this together.
Thanksgiving holds some very dear memories for me. My late mother always made the holidays special and I am reminded of her at this time of year for her love of sweets, and a family tradition that has carried on through the years – Gloria’s Pumpkin Cookies.
Gloria’s Pumpkin Cookies are delicious and loved by ‘kids’ of all ages. As my personal thank you for your unwavering support, I am thrilled to share this special recipe with you. I hope it will bring you joy and perhaps even become part of your Thanksgiving tradition. (Please see cookie recipe below).
After eating these cookies, I would highly recommend a long walk with your children or grandchildren, as there is no shortage of sugar in this recipe. Enjoy!
On behalf of everyone here at the hospital and our Foundation I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued and generous support.
Stay healthy and stay safe.
With sincere gratitude,
Shannon Gorman, President & CEO, Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation
