The Queensway Carleton Hospital Medical Staff Association has pledged to donate $250,000 to Queensway Carleton Hospital in support of the Care Grows West – Advancing Care For All Ages campaign. This generous pledge represents more than 300 dedicated physicians supporting patient care at QCH!

Melanie Adams, President and CEO of Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, was honoured to accept the cheque on behalf of the Foundation. “We are so grateful for this philanthropic partnership that will benefit patients and families in our community. Thank you for going above and beyond to demonstrate your commitment to Queensway Carleton Hospital and the patients we care for” said Adams.

In the acceptance of this generous gift, Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation Board Chair, Alan Whitten said, “Your devotion to providing the best possible patient- and family-centered care each and every day is remarkable and your commitment tonight is further testament to the dedication you have for patient care at QCH!”

Dr. Acharya, President of the Medical Staff Association announced the gift at the physicians meeting on September 14, 2015, “We are in the fortunate position to be at the forefront of patient care in an exemplary hospital as QCH. It is a privilege to be part of a physician group who wish to uphold this hospital’s excellent reputation by making a significant contribution that will continue to ensure that continuum of care and compassion.”

Advancing Care For All Ages is a fundraising campaign to raise $30 million over seven years (2013-2019) to provide the community share of investment in:

  • Opening Ottawa’s first Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) Unit dedicated to providing specialized care for frail seniors.
  • Acquiring new equipment that will increase capacity and improve the comfort and outcomes of patients who need surgery, diagnostic imaging and more. Purchasing new equipment in our Childbirth Program so that every mother and baby will always have the right equipment and expertise close at hand.
  • Improving inpatient and emergency care for people who are living with mental illness.
  • Investing in technology and education to support leading best practices in patient care, improve the patient and family experience and empower hospital-wide innovation.

These funds will help the hospital meet the growing healthcare needs for the 400,000+ residents in the west end of Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley.

Thank you to the 301 physician members of the Medical Staff Association at Queensway Carleton Hospital.
