Leading the next generation of philanthropists

Mother-daughter duo, and Sun Life Financial business partners, Sonia and Sarah Del Rosario say that Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH), their local hospital, has been there for their family more times than they can count.

Thirteen years ago, Sonia was a patient at QCH while being treated for a rare blood disorder. Her illness became so critical, that she spent time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) before thankfully making a full recovery and returning home. Both of Sarah’s sons, 17 and 8 years old, were born at QCH and have been to the Emergency Department many times for the typical cuts, bumps and breaks throughout their childhood. Sonia and Sarah both say that every time they visit QCH, they receive the most exceptional care.

And when Sonia was recently inducted into the Sun Life Financial Hall of Fame and awarded a $5,000 grant for her charity of choice, she made the decision to donate the funds to QCH Foundation.

Charitable giving is incredibly important to Sonia and her family, and she is hoping that her generous donation to QCH Foundation will inspire her grandchildren, the next generation of philanthropists.

“I encourage my grandchildren to be with me during those moments to show them the importance of helping our community,” explains Sonia. “If we can provide the resources to make our community better, we have to be the leaders in that.”

We are so thankful to the Del Rosario family for their generous support of our hospital.

Your donation today will help inspire the younger generation of philanthropists too. When you make a gift to QCH Foundation, your support will ensure our healthcare teams continue to have the equipment and tools they need to care for you, your family, friends, neighbours and our entire community.
