Celebrating our volunteers

Both our hospital and Foundation rely heavily on volunteers. We could not do our work without their generous and dedicated support. This week, for National Volunteer Week, we are celebrating each and every one of our amazing volunteers, and thanking them for all they do for us.

We have an awesome team of 500 plus volunteers who guide patients and visitors around the hospital, serve with dedication on our boards, and work as volunteer fundraisers helping our Foundation raise millions of dollars each year. They are a wonderful team of individuals who are passionate about giving back to our community and supporting their local hospital.

This has not been an easy year for our volunteers, as many have not been able to help us in their usual way, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Regardless, the support of our volunteers has not waivered, and they have pivoted and adapted with us to find new ways to help during these challenging times. We have volunteers who are now assisting patients and visitors to find their way from the screening stations, others who support the team and patients in our Vaccine Clinic, and Foundation volunteers who have done an amazing job rallying their contacts and our community to support our frontline team and hospital throughout the pandemic.

I encourage you to read the two pieces in this e-newsletter showcasing our fantastic Foundation Cabinet volunteers and our QCH Volunteer Services team leaders. I hope the example of these and all our volunteers will inspire you this week. The kindness and dedication certainly inspires me everyday, and has kept me going through these tough times.

On behalf of everyone at Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) and our entire Foundation team I would like to thank all our volunteers for their selfless work in support of QCH and our community.

Happy National Volunteer Week!

Stay safe and stay healthy.

With ongoing gratitude,

Shannon Gorman, President & CEO, Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation
