Angela’s Champions of Care

The Medicine Inpatient Unit team receiving their Champion of Care plaque

Angela and her family were so grateful for the care their late sister received at QCH that they chose to make a gift to QCH Foundation to recognize our Palliative Care and Medicine Unit as a Champion of Care. They left the following heartwarming message to share with our team:

“To the incredible staff of C4 (Medicine Unit) and Palliative Care –

Thank you all so very much for the extraordinary care offered to my sister, Irene, during her hospital stay this past June. Although she sadly passed away on June 30 from leukemia at the age of 80, my family was comforted knowing she had such a wonderful team supporting her, and us, during the difficult time.

It would be impossible to list each event or gesture. Collectively, you demonstrated a constant level of professionalism, responsiveness and compassion which far exceeded the notion of simply ‘doing one’s job’. It is even more impressive to us that you achieved this during the COVID-19 period of increased stress and restrictions.

For this, our family is forever grateful.”

Thank you Angela and family for your gift and this amazing message. And congratulations to our wonderful and well deserving Palliative Care and Medicine Unit for your Champion of Care nomination.

Did you know that when you make a Champion of Care donation you can send a personal message of thanks that will be shared with your Champion? They’ll also receive a Champion pin to wear with pride. Your gift not only shows your appreciation, your support will ensure our healthcare team continues to have the equipment and tools they need to care for you, your family, friends and our entire community.
