Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation Achieves Accreditation from Imagine Canada’s Standard Program
NOVEMBER 1, 2016– Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) Foundation today announces that it has been accredited under Imagine Canada’s national Standards Program. With this achievement, QCH Foundation joins a growing community of more than 200 organizations dedicated to operational excellence, and is the first Hospital Foundation to be accredited in the Ottawa region.
The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and nonprofits designed to strengthen practices in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
“The Imagine Canada accreditation process provided excellent guidance to us and challenged us to prove that we were in fact delivering on our values. Achieving the Imagine Canada trustmark confirms to our community that our Foundation is a leader in best practice governance and donor accountability,” says Naomi Morisawa De Koven, QCH Foundation Vice President, Board of Directors and Governance Chair.
“It’s no small feat for an organization to earn Standards Program accreditation,” says Bruce MacDonald, President and CEO of Imagine Canada. “It’s a rigorous, peer-reviewed process that is meant to build public trust and confidence in the charitable sector. These organizations take accountability and operational transparency very seriously. We’re glad to have them on board.”
“This accreditation by Imagine Canada reflects QCH’s shared values of accountability, innovation and respect; values that we bring to the care of each of our patients and values that we share with each of our donors every single day,” says Tom Schonberg, President and CEO of Queensway Carleton Hospital. “Generous donors share our vision of being the hospital of choice, recognized for our exemplary patient care, people and performance.“
Investment in Donor Trust
The goals of Imagine Canada’s Standards Program are to increase the transparency of charities and nonprofits, and to strengthen public confidence in individual organizations and the sector as a whole. Trust is the foundation for what matters to us, our stakeholders and those who support us. Accredited organizations invest in what matters: trust.
Transparent, peer-review process
Our policies and procedures in the five areas of compliance were evaluated by a group of volunteers from the sector, and were found to be compliant with the Standards Program.
“I am incredibly proud of the work we do as a foundation with the community and the impact we create for patient care at QCH. Imagine Canada’s Accreditation was the next step in elevating our standard of excellence and ensuring we are aligned with the hospital in the areas of accountability and trust! ” says Melanie Adams, QCH Foundation President and CEO.
